For more than a decade, Dixie worked as a School Counselor in both middle and elementary schools. Her work in schools has given her the unique advantage to understand how emotional issues can impact learning. She has also worked privately with children and adolescents who have experienced abuse. Dixie has supervised counseling students and served as Adjunct Professor in the School Counseling Department at Clemson University.
“When I work with children and adolescents I use Play and Art Therapy techniques combined with Cognitive Behavioral strategies that allow the child/adolescent to feel comfortable to open up and share thoughts and feelings. When working with adults, I focus on Mindfulness which teaches them to live in the present while establishing goals to create the life they want to live.”
Areas of Focus:
- Anger Issues
